A Word on Surety Company Underwriting and Credit Reports

Protecting of your personal credit information is the highest priority at SBS. Most license and permit surety bonds are underwritten with the assistance of a credit report and during the application process you will be asked to consent to allow the sureties to run your credit. Higher credit scores (FICO) typically are awarded preferred pricing; low scores can result in higher rates and declination. Information provided on the application is also taken into account by the underwriting companies but credit score plays the largest role. SBS does not have access to your credit information or credit score. If your bond application is declined you are entitled to a copy of your credit report directly from the bureaus.
